Elevated dog feeders can be a useful accessory. They are primarily used for large and tall dogs; however they can also be used for smaller sized breeds. PetDoc Club have compiled a list of the positive health benefits which can be gained by switching the height of your dog food and water bowl. We have also included a picture to help you decide exactly which bowl is just right for your little Goldilocks… er, we mean, dog!
Elevated dog feeders can:
Slow down speedy eaters
Improve body posture and comfort
Help ease of swallowing.
Stop dogs from lying down when eating
To find out how high your dog feeder should be, get your dog to stand up straight. Measure your dog from the floor to his lower chest level. This is where the bowls should be. The top of the dog feeder should be at a comfortable level, so your dog does not need to reach up or bend down. If in doubt, ask your vet.
